Katy Stone: Radiator
RYAN LEE is pleased to present Radiator (2022). Using thousands of paillettes individually affixed to the wall, Katy Stone creates a cosmic shape for her site-specific installation in RLWindow. Viewable from the High Line, Radiator is a multi-dimensional work which continues Stone’s interest in creating sculptural assemblages and installations that act as both kaleidoscope and microscope. Stone is known for her dynamic multi-layered installations that range in scale from the small and intimate to monumental public commissions. The dynamic and dispersing form on view suggests a radiating sun, and because each paillette is hand-sanded they are all unique, heightening the work’s interaction with light. The composition extends beyond the wall, with some elements placed on the floor to reflect light upward at the wall.
